Question to museum registrars, directors, etc. We are planning to
make a posthumous cast from a plaster of one of our permanent
collection artists. WE hold his entire studio, almost, and,
pursuant to the trust, we are compelled to make this cast. Has
anyone out there made posthumous casts, and if so, how do you
indicate, on the cast, that it is a posthumous cast, and not
one done during the artist's life. We want to make sure that
no one thinks we are trying to make casts that seem as if they
were done by artist while still alive. Hope that question makes
sense. I don't usually deal with dead artists, my field is
contemporary. Thanks for the help, Dana Self, Curator of Exhibitions
Edwin A. Ulrich Museum of art, Wichita State University, Wichita,KS.
