December 12, 2013 is the new deadline for applications to the National Endowment for the Humanities’ Sustaining Cultural Heritage Collections program. U.S. nonprofit institutions with humanities collections may apply for planning and implementation projects that focus on managing relative humidity, temperature, light, and pollutants in collection spaces; providing protective storage enclosures and systems for collections; and safeguarding collections from theft and from natural and man-made disasters. The grant program encourages sustainable strategies that balance preservation goals, costs, and environmental impact.
NEH encourages applicants to discuss project ideas with program officers. Draft proposals are also still being accepted. Contact us by email to [log in to unmask] or call 202 606-8570.
Guidelines, FAQs, and sample narratives from successful applications are on the NEH Web site: www.neh.gov/grants/preservation/sustaining-cultural-heritage-collections.
A list of previous awards can be found here: www.neh.gov/files/divisions/preservation/sustaining_cultural_heritage_collections_awards.pdf
