The Provincial Museum of Alberta is seeking a CURATOR OF ETHNOLOGY. The
successful candidate will manage more than 13,000 Plains and Subarctic artifacts
and will play a key role in developing the museum's 1000 sq. metre Gallery of
Aboriginal Peoples. You will have demonstrated skills in curatorial management
of western Canadian aboriginal material culture and in working directly with
aboriginal communities, as well as proven abilities in completing research based
on ethnographic study, oral tradition and historical sources.
QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in anthropology, supplemented by several years directly
related experience. Equivalencies considered. Note: All applicants are
required to submit a five page position paper providing their views on the
relationship between aboriginal communities and museums. Valid Alberta driver's
licence required.
