TITLE:                       MUSEUM PROGRAMS COORDINATOR (Position #AH0003)
LOCATION:             Gaston County Museum 
                                131 W. Main Street, Dallas, NC  28034
 
PAY SCALE:            $34,531 – 53,525 Annually (Exempt-not eligible for overtime)
 
APPOINTMENT:     Full Time
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:  (NOTE:  The duties listed below are not inclusive of all of the duties that may be assigned to the position but are considered as essential to the nature of the job). 
•	Develops and executes educational programs to include tours, classes, workshops and special events which promote the mission and study areas of the museum.
•	Develops and produces educational and resource materials.
•	Works with public and private school personnel and the community at large to provide and improve educational services to students and special constituencies.
•	Works with the museum staff to develop programs and materials for the interpretation of museum collections and/or exhibitions.
•	Works with the public for on-site and outreach tours and programs including some nights and weekends.
•	Responsible for marketing and advertising, maintains the Facebook page, the web site and the GAC Channel updates as well as initiates all press releases.
•	Perform related work or other duties as assigned by the Museum Director.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 
Bachelor’s Degree in History, Art or related field and a minimum of 1 year professional experience in museum education or related work.  A Master’s Degree in a closely related area of study (American Art, Museum Education, American History) is strongly preferred.
The candidate selected must undergo a criminal background check and pass a drug screening test prior to employment.
MINIMUM PHYSICAL OR ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:  Minimum hazardous working conditions. Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
