There is an interesting presumption in this thread that the schools are responsible for the number of students choosing a particular degree. Schools serve students, not the museum industry. They provide the degrees that are in highest demand, as determined by students. Because more students seek a particular degree does not mean schools are encouraging that degree.
If my university had told me to change majors, I would have gone to a different school. ;)
