I would suggest contacting Kathy Maher at the Barnum Museum in 
Bridgeport, CT. Kathy lead a project to convert period gas fixtures to 
fiber optic lighting using a method that preserved the original 
fixtures. A very successful project with a wonderful effect as the result.
