Dear Colleagues, regarding how to use contract staff, independent
contractors who receive a 1099, and other non-benefited situations, you
MUST pay attention to what the IRS Guidelines are now calling for, even
how they are now defining the use of interns. It may be useful to poll
the field, but to protect your museum or organization, find out what
the new requirements are. Avoid an IRS audit about these employees,
or non-employees, if you can. All best, Geri Thomas, President,
Thomas & Associates, Inc., artstaffing.com.
