There have been a number of queries regarding hard data on museum
operations. The Canadian Centre for Business and the Arts collects
such data abour public museums and galleries, university operated
museums and artist run centres in Canada. Data include operatinf
expenses, operating revenue, the breakdown of funding sources, number
od staff, exhibition space, number of exhibits mounted and borrowed, etc.

I don't have the address of the centre at hand, but if anyone is
interested Ican either post it to the list or you can contact me
directly at [log in to unmask]

The data is very useful. I ahve used it to examine the relative
levels of subsidy per visitor for Canadian Museums.
