Joy, I for one, would be delighted to receive announcements of
professional conferences, workshops, or whatever. The ability to rapidly
exchange thoughts, ideas, and information is what makes the internet a
joy to me, as well as many others I suspect.
I would draw the line at outright advertizing and self-promotion for
financial gain.
