Scope:
To develop, deliver and administer educational programs, projects and products at the Institute of Texan Cultures, the museum of the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). Program development and delivery is for the public as well as for UTSA students.
Responsibilities:
• Administers, coordinates and participates in activities involved in assigned programs or projects, including budgeting, scheduling, marketing, training, and evaluating programs.
• Supervises educational specialist team, including vetting and evaluating their work and coordinating their efforts to best meet the needs of the department’s mission.
• Proposes, develops, coordinates, delivers and evaluates educational programs, teacher workshops, and materials and interpretational materials that support the exhibits, special events and programs at the ITC.
• Oversees the development and distribution of educational materials.
• Participates in the training of volunteer docents, staff, and interns.
• Develops and coordinates academic ties with UTSA, including recruitment of interns, promotion of pre-service programs, etc.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements:
Master's degree required, preferably in anthropology, education, folklore, history, museum studies, or related fields
Experience Requirements:
Five years experience in eductional program administration, coordination and development to include one year of professional teaching and two years in a supervisory postion.
Knowledge of personal computers, long distance learning, specifically videoconferencing is preferred.
Will require some weekend work and travel. Handling of containers of books, traveling trunks, or other bulky materials.
Will periodically require evening and weekend work, attendance at meetings, workshops and conferences.
