There are a number of maritime museums on the east coast that feaure
whaling galleries, paintings etc. Among them is Mystic Seaport, a
remarkable place that incorporates exhibit spaces, historic buildings,
floating ships, an extensive collections of small craft and a first
class research facility.
Two whaling museums I have visited are the New Bedford Whaling Museum
in New Bedford, Massachussetts and the not as well known but the very
important Kendall Whaling Museum just south of Boston at Sharon
Mass.
Maurice D. Smith, Curator, Marine Museum of the Great Lakes at Kingston.
