** 'Dr. Death' Wants to Exhibit His Own Corpse
Gunther von Hagens, famous/infamous for exhibiting preserved corpses in his
controversial "Body Worlds" exhibitions, has revealed that he is suffering
from Parkinson's disease, a degenerative nervous disorder, and that he is
preparing to go on show himself after his death
** Found In the Archives: Claud Thornton's Traveling Crime Museum
Little is known about the museum's creator, Claud Thornton; his military
records do not survive, but based on Delano's description of him as a
shell-shocked veteran of World War I, it's hard to avoid imagining the sort
of action he might have seen that, followed by the Depression, put him on
the road with these papier-mache figures of John Dillinger, Pretty Boy Floyd
and other well-known criminals
** A Triage to Save the Ruins of Babylon
The damage done to the ruins of ancient Babylon is visible from a small
hilltop near the Tower of Babel, whose biblical importance is hard to
envision from what is left of it today
** Ruby slipper reward hits $250,000
The slippers, one of four known pairs worn by Garland in the classic 1939
movie, were on a 10-week loan from Hollywood movie memorabilia collector

** Historic Preservation & Lost Artifacts in Harrisburg
According to the article, over 1,800 historic artifacts (including a musket
from Gettysburg battlefield, an original Kentucky rifle from the 1700's, and
an early likeness of Pennsylvania native and frontier legend Daniel Boone)
have gone missing from an end of the year audit at the State Museum in
Harrisburg and the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Lancaster County

A lesser known fact about the museum's astonishing history is that felines
have inhabited the cosy cellars for centuries - surviving Tsars and

** MacMillan's lost tales of Arctic adventures retold
Long lost tapes of explorer Donald MacMillan, recounting his sometimes
harrowing Arctic travels, have been painstakingly restored and converted to
a digital format at Bowdoin College's Peary-MacMillan Arctic Museum
