Hi Ashley and others,
At the Philadelphia Museum of Art, they developed a clever and simple solution for storing beds. They made short side rails in wood of about 12" long that would connect headboard and footboard to a free standing compact unit. The original (long) side rails would rest on the short side rails, parallel to the headboard and footboard, in other words in between them. This way the bed is easy to move, take apart, view, all parts are together, and no contraptions are needed to keep it upright.
Good luck,
Rian
