CALL FOR PARTICIPATION AND PROPOSALS, 1995 VISUAL RESOURCES ASSOCIATION
ANNUAL CONFERENCE

        The thirteenth annual conference of the Visual Resources Association
will be held in San Antonio, TX, from Wednesday, January 25, through Saturday,
January 28, 1995. As always, the VRA conference will be concurrent with the
College Art Association's annual meeting. Our Lonestar State colleagues are
already planning activities which will highlight the city's rich cultural (and
culinary!) variety.
        Proposals and moderators for VRA sessions are needed. Topics which
have been suggested include, but are not limited to: cataloguing issues and
data standards; grantsmanship; the National Information Infrastructure;
architectural collections; continuations of this year's technology and copyright
   issues sessions. Should the workshops on job descriptions and photography be
repeated? How shall we address the problems inherent in technological
presentations at the next meeting? New topic proposals are encouraged!
        Round table discussion leaders are also needed. Round table topics
which have been suggested include: new curators; small collections/small
budgets; non-academic collections; how to write annual reports. These topics
should lend themselves to more active discussion within smaller groups. New
discussion topics are encouraged!
        Formal session and round table proposals should be made in the form
of short written statements of no more than one pate by those interested in
acting as session moderators and round table leaders. Please send proposals
to: Jenni Rodda, Vice President, Visual Resources Association, c/o Institute
of Fine Arts, 1 East 78th Street, New York, NY  10021-0178 (212-772-5807, fax;
[log in to unmask]). Proposals must be received in New York no later
than June 1, 1994, to ensure proper consideration. If this deadline prohibits
a written submission, proposals may also be made by telephone at 212-772-5872,
Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern US time.
        More specific information about the conference and a call for papers
will be included in upcoming issues of the VRA _Bulletin_ and will be
posted electronically to this list. If you attended this year's VRA
conference in New York City and have yet returned your conference questionnaire
or sent your comments electronically to me, please do so. Your suggestions
and ideas are welcome in planning the 1995 conference.
