What about the possibility of using iphones as bar code readers?
I understand the "RedLaser" iPhone app is accurate and has been commercially successful; See http://www.mobilecrunch.com/2009/12/15/bar-code-scanning-redlaser-iphone-app-reaches-750k-downloads-over-1m-in-revenue/ ...
If pastperfect can read bar codes through iphones or android phones, that would be an incredibly powerful and flexible tool.
