Heather,
If you have a fan page on Face Book it will send you weekly updates with some general tracking information (for example, number of posts made on your page, new fans added, etc) As for twitter: there's nothing that they put out to help you track information. For them I would suggest keeping track of how many followers you get from week to week. You can also keep track of how many of your tweets are being retweeted and how many replies you're generating (conversations going back and forth between you and your followers). With social media it's all about the conversations being generated and how far your information gets out on the net. So keeping tabs on how many different places your information shows up is a great start.

Subject: [MUSEUM-L] Social Media Stats
Please excuse cross-postings.
I know there have been discussions about this on several listservs and
I've looked through the archives of all of them to no avail.
What stats are you keeping track of in regard to your social media
(specifically Facebook & Twitter)?
We recently were granted access to Facebook and are trying to determine
what stats we should be gathering from it, which has also raised questions
in what stats we track for Twitter.
Thanks for the advice,
Heather Marie
