This is a very different technology than you have experienced
before. It is not a panacea as it's capabilities are actually quite
limited in ways traditional audio is not, such as volume, frequency
response and methods of "control." Even the listeners experience is
different. It's not a perfect comparison, but the listener hears
something a bit like wearing headphones except not in stereo.
On the other hand, they can do some pretty cool things that are
simply impossible with traditional speakers. I once made a bird fly
over our heads in an arena sized space, absolutely convincingly. I
was holding an early prototype in my hands standing on the floor. It
was an astonishing effect that would have been impossible with speakers.
I would not recommend these solely as a sound control device, but
they CAN do this quite remarkably in the right circumstances. And
they can provide near perfect control in circumstances where nothing else can.
If you have the need and the means, I suggest a demonstration is the
best way to begin to appreciate how these can be used. I don't know
the current pricing, but keep in mind they are not something you
simply buy and throw up on the wall. Installation should be handled
by someone with some experience.
Cheers,
