Daniel,
Some people look upon those types of requests as a nuisance while others
seize the opportunity by devising new ways to satisfy demand, forge new
relationships, and enhance a repuation for public service. I find myself
looking for advice from all kinds of off-the-wall sources these days, and
would recommend reading "Customers for Life" by a Dallas luxury car dealer,
Carl Sewell. (See the revised edition written with Paul B. Brown.)
Not to downplay your situation, but it sure beats the alternative, eh?!
