Here's an example from one state in the USA: the NJ Digital Highway
(started in 2005):
http://www.njdigitalhighway.org/
"The principal grant partner organizations who are collaborating to
develop the New Jersey Digital Highway are:
Rutgers University Libraries
New Jersey State Library
New Jersey Division of Archives & Records Management
The New Jersey Historical Society
American Labor Museum/Botto House National Landmark
NJDH was conceived, promoted and developed as a grass roots effort by
cultural heritage organizations throughout New Jersey. NJDH's
governance reflects its broad-based support and collaborative
structure."
I'm finding it useful for locating material for an exhibition on New
Jersey medicine.
