Tillers International (http://www.tillersinternational.org/), in
Scotts, Michigan, is sponsoring the workshop "Blacksmithing for Museum
Professionals," with James Slining on April 15-17, 2009. Jim, who is now
living and working near Charlottesville, VA, got his start in
blacksmithing at Genesee Country Village and then went to Colonial
Williamsburg in 1988, where he stayed until forming his own company,
Foothills Trades, in 1998.
Tillers International is a great organization west of Detroit, Michigan, that
supports, encourages and teaches skills vital to international rural
development, focusing on farming with oxen but also on other low-capital
technologies that support the productivity of rural communities.
