Museum Collections Specialist
(Temporary Part-Time position, 20 hours per week for 11 months)
Salary Range: Temporary classification, $15.00/hour
The Position:
The City of Campbell is seeking an independent and energetic individual for a
part time temporary Collections Manager. Under the supervision of the Museum
Director/ Curator this position is primarily responsible managing the museums
collections and accessioning new collections. This person will be expected to
be a self starter and a quick learner, possessing skills needed for helping a
small historical museum update its collections.
Specific Tasks:
• Cataloging collection materials
• Create collection records, paper and digital formats (PastPerfect 4.0
software), including digital photography.
• Ensure Collections files are up to date
• Document changes or damage to the collection and maintain a list of
objects requiring conservation.
• Transfer and reorganize parts of collection storage to maximize
space.
Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited college or university; Background in Museum
Studies; Experience working with museum collections; knowledge of museum
standards and accessioning methods, preservation techniques and / or
procedures for museum collections, legal issues and storage practices; good
communication skills with strong attention to detail; skill in organizing
resources and establishing priorities; ability to use independent judgment;
strong computer skills, including data bases, word processing and
spreadsheets.
