Status: Non-exempt - Full Time - Temporary
Grade: 5
PURPOSE:
Develop, facilitate and evaluate educational programming to serve visitors to Minnetrista.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in education, history, art, natural history/environmental education, camp or related field; experience comparable to academic background acceptable.. Must have education experience, including developing and evaluating age appropriate curriculum. Should be comfortable teaching large and small groups. Must support and practice imaginative, engaging and learner-centered education. A background in the museum environment is a plus. Must be able to work individually and collaboratively. Should communicate well orally and in writing. Must be able to organize the logistics, supplies and staff of numerous projects at one time. Should have strong computer skills. Must be able and willing to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. Because this position requires solo travel, a valid driver’s license is required. o Develop, facilitate and assess public programming in assigned areas.
o Support school programming as needed.
o Develop and assess strategic planning in assigned public programming areas.
o Cultivate and supervise volunteers and interns to support public programming.
o Establish and maintain working relationships with external organizations and individuals to further public education goals.
o Work with other departments (marketing, development, volunteers, etc.) to support public programming.
o Perform all other duties required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Typical workstation office environment with computer equipment, fax machine, files and shelves, as well as outdoor environments such as a nature area and gardens.
