I am not aware of a best practice on this topic. This may be time-consuming
and not feasible in many cases, but sometimes it pays to ask the party(ies)
involved. After the death of her husband, one of our major donors (tangible
gifts and contributions) asked referred to in promotional materials and
databases only as "Mrs. His first and last name."

Subject: [MUSEUM-L] Best practice
Hello,
Is there a best practice that says how to refer to gifts from a former Mr.
and Mrs. but the husband is deceased. Is it correct to continue to use "Mr.
and Mrs. His First and Last Name" or do you change to "Mrs. Her first and
his last name?" Or is it just a matter of preference.
I would be interested in other peoples comments.
Regards,
Gail
