I'm sorry I don't have the reference, but years ago someone at a museum did a study on ways to store plexi (acrylic) props and determined bubble wrap could leave marks.
Instead, I used small ethafoam pieces in between plexi vitrines and flat plexi props to keep them from rubbing together and scratching. More importantly, I explained to everyone why plexi was to be carefully handled and stored. After each exhibit, props were sorted by type and size, with like items nested together, which also made the next installation much smoother. We were careful to never use glass cleaner on plexi because it can cloud and craze it. Our props stayed new looking and the little bit of extra effort it took was well worth it, since plexi props aren't cheap.

A quick wrap in paper could prevent that, or you can get bubblewrap
bags from Uline for pretty cheap that are super easy to use and reuse.
