Our institution has one collections storage area that has asbestos above
a drop-ceiling. It is not a problem as long it remains undisturbed.
However, a Halon discharge would likely result in such a disturbance,
possibly with asbestos landing on artifacts. We do what we can to
prevent that possibility (sealed cabinets, bagged artifacts, trying not
to leave things exposed.) However, if you know anything about
decontaminating surfaces after exposure to asbestos, I would love to
hear from you.
Thank you,
Ellen Carrlee
