I send out an Adopt-an-Artifact form with every Deed
of Gift. I don't make all that much money from it,
but it is enough to buy me a good supply of acid free
boxes each year.
We get anything from $10 to $1000 (only got that
once!). Most checks are for $25-$50.
I wrote about it recently on my blog:
http://mckinleycurator.blogspot.com/2008/02/archival-supplies.html
Let me know if you have any additional questions.
Hope this helps!
