By "The heirs are the co-representatives of the estate," do you mean they are co-executors?
Is so, then yes, the collection should be returned to them. The only information you should need is 1), the collection was on loan to you from the deceased, and 2) the people you are handing the collection over to are responsible for settling the affairs of the deceased. The will, probated or not, shouldn't be your concern at all.
