The Park City Historical Society & Museum in Park City, Utah, is seeking a
History and Heritage Collections Intern for Summer 2008.
The intern will work with the curator of collections and exhibitions to prepare
for an upcoming collections move and to prepare artifacts for exhibition.
Duties will include cataloging, inventorying, basic conservation, and mount-
making. The Park City Museum has more than 27,000 objects and is in the
middle of an $8.9 million expansion project.
Applicants should be enrolled in a graduate program, or have recently
completed a graduate program in museum studies, history, or a related field.
Applicants should be familiar with and have skills in object handling, mount
making for storage, and collection databases. Experience with archives
management or digitization is a plus. Applicants must be able to climb ladders
independently and to lift 50 lbs occasionally and 25 lbs frequently and
independently.
The internship will last from 8 to 10 weeks. The stipend for this internship is
$2,400 for 8 weeks (35 hrs/week).
