Speaking as a "former" photography, I would want my images to look their
best. Perhaps for someone like Ansel Adams you might want an original, as he
was so well known for his printing abilities. For the rest of us, it's the
image, not the medium that is important.

Subject: [MUSEUM-L] Photography Exhibit Question
We are in preparation to have an exhibit featuring the work of a photogrpher
who was born and raised locally but become nationally recognized. We
recently were put "in charge" of his collection of over 4,000 8x10 photos.
Prior
to the photos being sent to us, they were in stored in a very humid
apartment, so they are not in best condition. Our question is: do we exhibit
the original 8x10s or do we have them scanned, reproduced in a larger format
and touched up for display? We have consulted local "experts" and have
people on both sides of the fence. HELP! The artist is alive, but not in the
best mental state. What do we do?
