****INTERMEDIATE BOOK REPAIR****
Date: Tuesday, March 11 - Wednesday, March 12, 2008
Place and Time: George Mason University, Fairfax, VA, 8:30 am to 5 pm
Building on the skills learned in the Fundamentals of Book Repair class,
this two-day session is designed to hone repair skills and expose
participants to more advanced techniques for general collections repair.
Protective enclosures will be introduced as a means for providing
physical protection for fragile materials and special collections.
Through hands-on practice, demonstration, and lecture, participants will
learn the following procedures:
Recase a textblock in its original cover
Attach loose signatures
Alternate methods for endsheets replacement
Protective enclosures
Pamphlet bindings
Paperback reinforcement.
Price: $225.00 for SOLINET members, $265.00 for non-members; early bird
