Actual Title: Museum Registration Intern

Regular Hours: 12 to 18 hours per week
October 20th, 2008 to January 15th, 2009
Job Purpose: The Henry Wilson Coil Library & Museum of Freemasonry Archive will be undergoing a renovation. Interns are requested to assist in the basic data entry of books and artifacts, as well as producing a photographic record of historical objects.
Job Summary: The Registration Intern is responsible for assisting with inputting basic details into the museum collection. Interns will work with the museum’s collections management database, Past Perfect. Will learn aspects of museum collection management.
Qualities and Qualifications:
· Bachelors or Masters degree in Museum Studies or Library Science, graduate student working toward a degree in Museum Studies or IMLS
· Knowledge of collections management processes.
· Detail-oriented and ability to be flexible.
· Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills; strong command of the English language.
· 12 to 18 hours per week from Oct. 20th 2008 to Jan. 15, 2009, excluding holidays. All work must be done on-site. Hours are flexible within the time frame of 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday.
· Must have a work ethic that includes specific and demonstrated attention to accuracy and detail.
· Must be able to maintain organized and effective files and documentation, both in paper and electronically.
· Ability to respond to a variety of callers/visitors courteously and tactfully.
· Must be self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision.
Equipment/Machines/Work Aids
Knowledge of Past Perfect database software or similar program recommended or desireable. Knowledge of accessioning principles and standards.
Physical and Environmental Conditions
Performs work indoors in temperature controlled modular office space. Spends majority of time sitting and working on computer. Occasionally bends and lifts when retrieving files.
