Special Events Coordinator, the Oriental Institute of the University of
Chicago* **
The Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago is a research
institute devoted to the study of ancient civilizations and cultures of
the Near East (present day Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Sudan, Syria and
Turkey). The Institute’s Museum is a world-renowned showcase of for the
history, art and archaeology of the ancient Near East.
*Summary of Position:*
The Special Events Coordinator develops, plans and coordinates a wide
range of Oriental Institute events, such as conferences, guest lectures
and fundraising events both at the Oriental Institute and at offsite
venues. Assists in the development of donor relationships through
effective management of event programs and outcomes. Assists with the
coordination of public relations and media outreach as related to event
themes and outcomes.
*Qualifications:*
Bachelor’s degree required; a minimum of two years event-related
experience required; event experience in not for profit or academic
environment preferred; experience in donor relations preferred; ability
to work evenings and weekends required.
*Work location:* University of Chicago Campus in the Hyde Park
neighborhood of Chicago
*Work schedule:* Full time (Monday- Friday 9:00 am -5:00 pm, plus some
evening and weekend hours)
*Pay** Range**:* Depends on Qualifications
