1 Full Time Position (35 hours/week)

Job Description

In coordination with the Chair and the Head of Collections Management,
the Head Registrar is responsible for implementing and directing all
registration activities for the Department of Anthropology.

Job Duties

Duties Include:
Overseeing acquisitions, de-accessions, incoming and outgoing loans
processes and related legal paperwork and documentation, and creating
and maintaining various budgets. As well as packing, crating and
shipping logistics.
Coordinating in-house loans of Anthropology objects for exhibitions
Managing departmental databases, including overseeing the conversion
of FileMaker Pro database to KE EMu collections management system and
future design of Repatriation module for database.
Compiling, researching and maintaining interpretive information on the
permanent collections in both hard copy and digital formats
Responding to research inquiries, including destructive analysis, and
other requests from institutions and the public
Developing and maintaining registration policies and procedures
Supervising registration staff, contract employees, volunteers, and interns

Qualifications

Advanced degree in Anthropology, Art History, or related field preferred
Five to seven years of experience in museum registration and
management required
In-depth knowledge of accepted museum registration practices and
procedures, artifact/art-related U.S. customs issues and cultural
import/export restrictions, risk management and insurance practices
and standards, experience with international courier traveling with
loans and exhibitions, and database experience (FileMaker Pro and
others)
Must possess excellent organizational skills and impeccable attention to detail
Must also be skilled in negotiation and resolution of non-routine problems
Must be able to work with artifacts and records for long hours in
galleries and storage areas
Should have ability to participate in the transportation of works of art
