You may want to check with The St. Louis (County?) Museum of
Transportation or the New York State museum. Both have incorporated
railcars into their exhibit designs.
I forsee slippage factors if you use plexi on the floor. Unfortunatly, at 7.30 on
a Monday morning, I'm not coming up with another idea other than
reproduction carpeting.

A0=HISTARCH ) might give you some alternate ideas. My experiance with the
industrial archaeology community (some which frequent the list) has shown
that there are many with a large interest in train stuff (engines, rolling stock,
rails, etc).
