Go to the Daguerreian Society web site at http://daguerre.org/ for
ideas. And check out the magical way Heritage Galleries has of
enlarging images at http://www.ha.com/ .
Or just take a look at my web site photos at
http://www.jimlyons.com/siteindex.html
The lady in the Daguerreotype section called "Pensive Lady" appeared
on the cover of Newsweek for Feb 6, 2006. (Ignore the counter at the
top of the Dag link; I haven't really had 16 billion visitors. (Or if
I have had, I'd better start looking into paid ads ;-)) ).
(Don't overlook the photos under Funny Captions in the index. I'm
going to enlarge these some day.)
My scanner is just a common old Epson Perfection 1200U I've had for
probably five or more years. The editing program was Mac System 9
Adobe PhotoDeluxe, the predecessor of today's Adobe Elements. The
settings were usually just whatever came.
