I am looking for ideas on how to mount for display a huge textile. The item is a
painted canvas that was on the nose cone of a submarine that was recently
christened. The item is at least eight feet wide. Think of a giant convex
surface. We would like to duplicate the shape of the end of the submarine,
round and somewhat pointed. Essentially we need a large bird cage attached
to a wall. Suggestions on how to mount this thing? Fiberglas mold? Styrofoam
sections? Massive amount of fiberfill? Of course any thing will be covered with
muslin and/or cotton batting to protect the fabric. Ideas are welcome! I can
send photos if anyone likes. Thanks in advance.
