Here's the link to the Pew survey, reported in August, 2005.
http://pewforum.org/surveys/origins/
The evolution through natural selection is accepted by the
preponderance of college grads, but does not represent the majority
view, even for them. (40% evolution through natural selection, 20%
evolution guided by a supreme being, 27% life has always existed in
its present form).
For those with only high school, the majority (50%) believe that life
has always existed in its present form. Only 18% accept evolution
through natural selection.
The only grouping where a majority accept evolution through natural
selection are people who identify themselves as secular rather than
religious. Of these, 56% accept evolution through natural selection.
