Sticky on the inside or on the outside?  Don't clean anything unless you
are sure that what you are cleaning is not the original stuff that the
crock or pot held or what spilled over the top.  That information can be
very useful to researchers.

If you know for a fact that you are cleaning off "new" stickiness, those
pots are very hardy.  A gentle grease-cutting soap and light pressure
when wiping should work.
