Dear Karla and Judy:
I would also like to have a copy of your findings.
Here's why: I have been working in museums for 19 years and I have an MA in
museum studies. I am now working on my PhD in Higher Education
Administration (I am the director of a university museum, so it is relevant) and
I am considering a national assessment of museum studies curricula for my
dissertation. My topic is still very formative, but I have been thinking that in
addition to comparing established currricula from these programs, I may
conduct a survey of all museum studies program chairs in the US and of
museum professionals who hire graduates of museum studies programs to
measure what each group values regarding curriculum, and in turn, what they
believe about the skills and education that entry level museum professionals
should possess. I may do more qualitative research with 2-3 of the program
chairs from some of the better known programs.
Thanks for doing the survey. As you know, this is an area that is not very well
researched.
