Please be advised that we will only be interviewing local candidates for
this position. 

Position Available : Academy Museum Public Information Officer 
Academy Museum Project, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences 

Duties include: 
* researching and writing press releases, feature stories, media alerts
and other material relating to the activities of the Academy's proposed
cinema museum; 
* planting, pitching and generating coverage in all media, domestically
and internationally; 
* serving as contact with media; 
* coordinating interviews and requests for information relating to
Museum activities; 
* planning and coordinating press events, press conferences, and
special programs; 
* generating, researching and writing museum stories for the quarterly
membership newsletter, the Academy's organizational website and the
annual report; 
* other activities as assigned. 

The Museum Public Information Officer will work in conjunction with
outside consultants and serve as communications liaison between such
consultants and the Museum Project. 

The Museum Public Information Officer will deal directly, in person, by
telephone and by email, with the media, Academy staff, donors, funding
organization personnel, city officials, vendors, consultants,
publicists, production company personnel, executives, Academy governors
and members. 

The Museum Public Information Officer will work in-house at the Academy
under the direct supervision of the Director of Communications and the
Museum Project Administrator. 

Required Qualifications 
* At least four years media relations, public affairs or publicity
experience, preferably in non-profit or government sector. 
* Media relations experience for a large museum or cultural
organization, especially during the development phase, is preferred. 
* Must be detail-oriented, accuracy obsessive, thick-skinned, able to
manage multiple tasks simultaneously and maintain equanimity and
pleasant demeanor in all circumstances. 
* Must be able to function efficiently amidst noise and confusion. 
* Must read, write and speak English fluently and with above-average
facility. 
* Strong copy-editing and proofreading skills are a must. 
* Significant night and weekend work may be assigned on short notice. 
* Use of personal automobile may be required; must have and maintain a
valid driver license. 
* Must have the ability to operate multi-line telephone, cellular
phone, walkie-talkie, copy machine, computer, laser printer, facsimile
machine; and other office and communications machines. 

This position will be based in Hollywood, after an initial posting in
Beverly Hills. It offers excellent benefits. Salary is commensurate with
area not-for-profit organizations.
