Kim,
If you're looking for something a bit "non-traditional" from the era,
the Historical Society of Delaware has a collection of gifts and a
wedding "dress" from a hippie wedding. The dress is tie-dyed and two of
the gifts include a bright orange, mushroom-shaped footstool and a
hookah. Contact info can be found on their website at www.hsd.org.

Hello all,
I am working on an exhibition on wedding traditions
that will feature our collection of wedding dresses.
I am also highlighting "typical wedding gifts" of
several eras.
I am looking to borrow some additional wedding-related
materials. Specifically, I would like to find a
bridal board game (I don't have a name or manufacturer
of this game -- it was mentioned generically in one of
the books I am using for research) that was made in
1960 where the players went around the board
collecting the elements of the wedding -- cake, dress,
rings, etc. Also, I would like to find an original
wedding Barbie.
If your collection has anything we could borrow to
enhance the story of the commercialization of the
"traditional white wedding" in the mid-20th century
(or even earlier) please contact me privately.
Thanks so much!
