Executive Director’s Role and Duties
Primary role-
Represent Historic Paris-Bourbon County, Inc. (HPBC) and the Hopewell Museum to the public
Maintain oversight of and attend all HPBC-funded or supported activities
Advise and support the committee activities of the organization
Reporting performance on schedule, budget, and result for these activities to the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors
Secondary duties –
Review correspondence and refer actions/approvals to the Executive Committee
Approve invoices for budgeted services
Approve minor expenditures ($250) for budgeted items
Approve and schedule rental of the Community Room
Collect and publish museum visitor data
Plan, justify and budget for professional association participation and activities
Publish the docent schedule
If possible, “cover” for last-minute docent absences
Serve as a knowledgeable collaborator for exhibit planning
Assist in preparing publicity
Coordinate annual schedule and publish yearbook with dues notices
Routine expectations (these are based on a one-person office)-
Open and close the museum
Answer the telephone (when docents are not on duty)
Answer routine correspondence not requiring any approvals
Approve, schedule, and coordinate requested visits by groups
Direct routine equipment maintenance, janitors, and computer maintenance performed under contract.
Maintain the museum web page and e-mail system
Oversee monthly newsletter
Qualifications
Executive Director/Administrator
Historic-Paris Bourbon County, Inc. – Hopewell Museum
Historic Preservation Degree, Business Degree or Related Field required
Experience in Museum/Historic Preservation Administration preferred
Salary commensurate with education and experience
