ICOM-MPR 2000
SEPTEMBER 17 - 22
NIPPON CONVENTION CENTER,
CHIBA (TOKYO) - JAPAN
Celebrating its first event ever held in Japan, the International
Committee for Marketing & Public Relations (ICOM-MPR) looks
forward to welcoming participants to its MPR 2000 annual
conference:
COMMUNICATING ACROSS CULTURES - MUSEUMS 2000
Our ability, as communicators, to be effective and responsive
throughout the museum field is complicated by numerous and often
contradictory elements. The last decade of the 20th century has
witnessed an unprecedented expansion of technology and
communications. Communication is increasingly a significant part
of our daily life, and similarly is recognised as one of the
primary functions of museums.
In an environment that is increasingly global, commercial and
competitive, one of the features that will characterise the
progressive and successful museum of tomorrow is how such
globalisation issues are managed in the context of: marketing
communications, audience development and commercial partnerships
This process which continues to evolve and unfold around us
provides the basis for this years' MPR conference themes.
ICOM-MPR 2000 will draw upon a combination of keynote
presentations and discussion groups, collectively exploring these
key issues that influence all aspects of museum promotion and
development at the opening of the 21st century.
