The corolary to this is: there are jobs but they will more often than
not, go to someone already "in the system". Get in the system be in
volunteer work, part-time job, internship, or entry-level job. You
might be qualified to be a educational program director but the person
who will get that job is probably already working there in a lower
position or a volunteer.

This is true in other fields as well. People will tend to hire people
they know or come to them via someone else they know than someone cold
off the street.

Get out there, network, and get to know people.
