Dawn,
I spent two years as project coordinator for a new 22,000 s.f. sports museum
in Baltimore, the Babe Ruth Museum's Sports Legends at Camden Yards, which
opened May 2005. Don't know that I can answer your most pressing questions,
but I sure can speak to many other issues. We can start with a phone call,
if you'd like, and bring it back to the list, if folks are interested.
Regards,
Dean

Subject: [SPAM] [MUSEUM-L] advice for feasibility study
The message below is from a colleague who asked that I send this to the
listserv. Please send replies to me and I will forward them. Many thanks,

I was asked to conduct a feasibility study for a sports museum/hall of fame
in the upper Midwest. We are aiming at a square footage between 30-50k sq.
ft. and I was wondering if anyone had access to such a study for a
"specialty" museum of that size that I could use as a reference.
A few of my most pressing questions:
What is the best way to caculate a "potential visitor base" to help predict
annual visitation. Any advice?
In calculating building costs and estimates, are there estimates on what a
storage square foot costs versus an exhibits square foot or office square
foot?
In addition, any related articles, texts, or specific people that would be
appreciated.
