POSITION TITLE: Summer Intern (2 openings)
LOCATION: Sam Rayburn House Museum, 890 W. State Hwy
56, Bonham, Texas.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Interns may work on one
or more of the following projects:
cataloging and researching the museum collection,
taking digital photographs of artifacts; recording
oral histories; assisting with an inventory of the
museum collection; researching and reformatting the
museum’s tour script; developing educational
programming; organizing site resources; and developing
special theme tours of the Sam Rayburn House Museum.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Interest in education,
history, and/or museums. Strong writing, research and
communications skills. Strong organizational,
multitasking and people skills. Knowledge of American
and Texas history. Knowledge of standard office
computer skills, including database software and word
processing. Ability to work independently and on
detailed tasks. Degree or expected degree in history,
education, museum studies, humanities or a related
field. Demonstrated interest in museum programs,
education and/or history.
WORK SCHEDULE: Tuesday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
