Forgive sending to the list, but the link below bounces back.
How about...
If you find yourself compulsively levelling picture frames in restaurants
and department stores......ymbamp.
or
If your first thought is that a mime in the park is a collection manager
who has absentmindedly forgotten to remove their white cotton
gloves.....ymbamp.

Colleagues-
I've been asked to speak at a special party for museum professionals at AAM
this year in Boston. I'm going to revive the piece I wrote years ago for
the conference in Atlanta, but want to update it with current ireverant
thoughts about our lives and careers.
If you have a funny or pointed observation about being a "museum
professional", would you please consider forwarding it to me off-list at

A couple original ones were...
If you not only read the brochures at cultural travel destinations, but
actually KEEP them...you may be a museum professional!
If, one day, you find you've organized all the stuff in your basement
chronologically...you just might be a museum professional!
Obviously, my apologies to Jeff Foxworthy...
One suggestion...don't worry about trying to make it funny. It may very
well be an observation about something in museums or having a job in
museums that you find odd or completely annoys you. That's OK.
Thanks,
D. Neil Bremer
