ESTES PARK POLICE RETRIEVE STOLEN ANTIQUE RIFLE AND OTHER ARTIFACTS
FROM MUSEUMS ACROSS THE COUNTRY
The Estes Park Police Department working with Federal and other State Law
Enforcement Agencies in the Denver Metro area, executed a search warrant
on a residence in Aurora Colorado on October 31st at about 10:30 am.
During the course of the search warrant and investigation, evidence from
several museum thefts was discovered. Officers discovered stolen artifacts
from museums from Colorado and Illinois to include a stolen antique rifle from
the Estes Park Museum which was stolen in November of 2005.
A suspect has been identified; Federal and State charges are pending.
Agencies involved included the Estes Park Police Department, Aurora Police
Department, Elgin Illinois Police Department, Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and
Firearms and National Park Service. The charge (s) are merely an accusation
and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty
