Museum Registrar
National Model Aviation Museum
The National Model Aviation Museum, dedicated to preserving the history of
model aviation, is seeking a registrar to manage the preservation of and
access to the museum’s collection. Responsibilities include development and
administration of the collections database (PastPerfect); managing the digital
imaging of the collection; overseeing accessioning, loans, conservation,
storage, and transportation of the collection; and evaluating insurance value
of collection.
The registrar will also assist in the interpretation of the collection by aiding in
exhibit research, design, and installation as well as museum educational
programming.
Requirements:
Candidates must have a Bachelors degree in history and/or museum studies or
related field with experience in museum collection management.
Must possess excellent verbal, written, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Must be computer literate with knowledge of MS Word and computer database
software functions relating to collections. Familiarity with PastPerfect Museum
Software is a plus.
Desire to learn about aviation history—model aviation in particular—in order to
converse with aeromodelers.
Must be able to work with artifacts that may be dusty, moldy, or contain
insects.
Must be able to help lift and carry heavy artifacts which may weigh 40-plus
pounds.
