I could use some advice on loading docks. Trucks that deliver art keep
getting bigger and bigger, and our loading dock is not up to snuff. It
is as narrow as a residential driveway, about 40' long, and opens onto
a two-lane residential street. We'd like to expand but we need solid
numbers on how much space a full-sized semi (what are they, 80' long
now) needs to turn and back in to a driveway. Anybody know a website or
consultant who can help us? Everybody on our board who ever held a
drafting pencil has an opinion, and they all differ. I'd like an
expert, not a guess, before we start bringing in bulldozers. In the
meantime, we have to use a transfer company (the only one in town) every
time we have a delivery in a large truck. The sooner we can eliminate
this middle step, the easier my life will be.
thanks in advance!
